Beauty Advert

For my advert, I chose to use the Miss Dior perfume bottle. I added some props including a bow tied using ribbon, a fake flower, some pearls and some kiss marks on paper in order to reflect the ‘coquette’ aesthetic often associated with Miss Dior due to the glamorous, feminine representation of the product through television and print advertisements and also through the popularisation of the perfume on social media. I have used the slogan ‘ULTRA FEMININE. ULTRA GLAMOUR.’ as these are the ideas which often surround the product. The product is displayed as feminine due to the stereotypical ‘feminine’ concepts included within their advertising and marketing. the box of the perfume itself is a light pink and within television adverts, the product is often associated with flowers which are also stereotypically associated with women. even the name of the perfume directly targets a female audience with the use of the title ‘miss’. Dior describes the perfume on their website as “the perfume for women with thousands of flowers” which not only directly associates women with flowers but also directly addresses the females audience and insists that the perfume is made for them. I chose to also use the word ‘glamour’ to indicate towards the elegance of the perfume and its association with the idea of value and attractiveness due to its high-end label. When editing my advert, I chose to incorporate the name of the perfume as it is displayed on both the box and the perfume bottle itself as this is recognisable to those who are aware of the product. The cursive and italic look of the name also further pushes the elegance of the perfume. I also added the logo underneath as it is displayed on the lid of the perfume bottle and I felt it was important to clearly show the link between the ‘Miss Dior’ perfume and the brand of Christian Dior. I chose to have my slogan and logo in black as it allowed it to stand out from the background of my photo. On Photoshop, I used the dodge tool to create the look that the perfume inside the bottle and the bottle itself was glowing. I did this to make the perfume look desirable and create an appeal for not only the product but the idea of beauty and glamour surrounding it. I used the same tool to brighten the look of the pearls as they did not shine in the light it the way I wanted them to when taking my photographs. I also created a glow around the brand name of the box of the perfume to further draw attention to the high-end brand and therefore the value of the perfume.
